Women's College World Series

I am a huge fan of College Softball.  Aside from football, softball is most definitely my favorite sport to watch, and it's even more fun to watch live.  Since Kansas State has not softball team, I am at liberty to cheer for any school I like, and I've been a big fan of Alabama Softball for about six years now, so every time the Crimson Tide are at the World Series I try to catch a few games live.  Luckily, the Women's College World Series is held every year in Oklahoma City, which means I can make the short drive a few times a year to watch some of the best teams in the country play the sport.  I usually go by myself (which I am a-ok with) but this year I thought Josh was old enough and would enjoy a day at the ballpark so I took him with me.  These are a few of the pictures of our day at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in OKC.

We arrived a little late for the games on Sunday, but we caught the last half of Arizona State vs. Oklahoma while we waited for Alabama to take on California.  Josh enjoyed eating all the ballpark concessions, such as hot dogs, soda, and some frozen lemonade.  I think all the food was his favorite part of the games!

The next game was the one I really wanted to watch:  California vs. Alabama.  If Alabama won they were going on to the Championship series versus Oklahoma, so we were cheering loud and yelling, "Roll Tide!" throughout the game.  By this time I think Josh was getting a little worn out from the sun and fun, but he's a trooper and managed to stick it out through all seven innings!

We even made it on ESPN!
All in all I think we both had a really fun day.  I went back on Tuesday night to watch game 2 of the Championship series between Alabama and Oklahoma, and that was really fun especially since Bama won.  The whole trip was even better since Alabama won the National Championship, it was really cool to see those girls that I've watched and rooted for this whole year hoist up that trophy.  Now that softball is over for the year, I'm anxious for next season to get here!  I think Josh and I will try to make it a yearly thing and drive up for at least one game if we can.  I'm fully content watching the games by myself, but I know that sharing these experiences with my son make them that much better.  Well, this was our trip to Oklahoma City and the Women's College World Series!  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as Josh and I enjoyed going!

Fizzy Fun

If you're looking for a cheap and fun little experiment for the kiddos to do, you should try this one out.  I saw this on Pinterest and thought we'd give it a whirl.  Most of the items you probably already have in your home and what you don't have won't cost you much more than a dollar to get.  My son loved this little project, and it kept him busy for at least an hour (which is remarkable, considering he usually moves on to some other hairbrained idea after 20 minutes!).

What you'll need:

Baking Soda
Vinegar
Food coloring
Squeeze bottles or droppers
A pan or dish

Add vinegar and your choice of food coloring to your squeeze bottles (I had the Wilton candy melting squeeze bottles, $1.99 for a two pack at Joann's) or eye droppers.  Pour out a decent amount of baking soda into your pan and let your kid have fun!  It's so simple, and the kids will really love watching the colored vinegar fizz when it hits the baking soda.

This is definitely a fun project that we will do again.  My son really got a kick out of it, and he was surprisingly neat and not messy all.  Cleanup was a breeze, and the cost of this project is definitely doable.  I probably spent less than $6 for the whole thing (not including the dish since I already had that), and if you already have the stuff on hand you won't spend anything!  My kind of fun kid craft!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone that celebrates this blessed holiday.  It is truly amazing to know that someone would sacrifice their life for little ol' me.  The priest this morning spoke about celebrating Easter everyday, and remembering everyday what God gave us.  It was a very inspirational sermon and I know I will try and remember what he said and take it to heart.

To kick off our Easter week, we had to color some eggs (of course!).  Joshua had a hard time with patience, and more times than not we had a little hand in the egg dye before the eggs were actually ready.  But, he loved it and despite his blue hands it was a real fun evening spent with my little boy.

On Friday we did a little Easter Egg hunt with some friends.  Unfortunately the weather was been very wet lately, and hunting for eggs outside just wasn't doable.  It was way too wet and muddy for the little kiddos - I'm sure they would've loved it, but the parents not so much - but I think it was still a success.  Luckily we have the basement now, which provided plenty of room for an egg hunt!

Easter Sunday, on our front porch just before heading to church.  I love this boy.  After church we came back home to see what the Easter Bunny brought, and then we headed over to Grandpa and Grandma's for lunch.  Now it is rest and relaxation time.  All in all a very good day!  I hope everyone has a wonderful day and that it's spent with loved ones.  Take care!

Lego Extravaganza!

Hello again! Today was Lego Day in the Murphy household. Aside from running a few errands in the morning, we devoted the whole day to Legos. Joshua got tons of sets for Christmas, which we had all built for a while, but I was tired of stepping on Legos barefoot so I put them away. So, today we had ourselves a little Lego party and put together most of his sets. I love watching him just build things, even if he doesn't follow the directions I love seeing him create something all by himself.

I'm not sure how long we'll keep all the sets together, at least for a while I suppose.  I just hate when they get torn apart and I get Lego sets mixed together.  So I do my darndest to keep them separated.  I'm sure there's a better way to do that, but I just put them in Ziploc bags with the instructions and label the bag accordingly.  It works well so far, even if my husband does laugh at me.

I think I'll be dreaming of Lego's tonight!  Until next time, Later Gators!
